The Short Answer

Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the best times to visit most of Morocco.

The weather is warm but not extreme, the mountains are accessible, and the desert is bearable.

Summer is too hot for the south and the desert.

Winter is cold in the mountains but pleasant in the cities and on the coast.

The Short Answer — Morocco travel guide

Spring (March–May)

One of the best times to visit.

The mountains are green from winter snowmelt, wildflowers are blooming, and the desert is warm during the day and cool at night.

Marrakech is pleasant.

The coast is mild.

Toubkal treks are possible from April, though snow may linger on the summit until May.

Summer (June–August)

Avoid the desert and the south.

Daytime temperatures in Merzouga regularly exceed 40°C, and the heat is dangerous for trekking.

Marrakech is also very hot (38°C+).

The coast is the exception — Essaouira and the Atlantic are cooled by ocean wind and are at their best.

The High Atlas above 2,500 m is still pleasant for trekking.

Autumn (September–November)

The other best time.

The summer heat has passed, the desert cools down, and the mountains are clear.

October is one of the best months in Morocco — warm days, cool nights, and everything accessible.

Toubkal is excellent.

The desert is at its best.

Winter (December–February)

The cities are pleasant (Marrakech around 18°C).

The coast is mild.

But the mountains are cold — Toubkal requires winter mountaineering skills, and many refuges are snowbound.

The desert is cold at night (near freezing) but beautiful during the day.

If you want to trek, this is not the time unless you are an experienced winter mountaineer.
