Why this rating makes sense
This is a difficulty-2 hike suitable for casual walkers and reasonably active travelers, including older adults and families with children accustomed to a half-day on their feet. The trails are non-technical but stony and uneven underfoot, with steady ascending that can be tiring for anyone unused to uphill walking at moderate altitude. Proper footwear is essential, and trekking poles help on the descents. It is not suitable for anyone with significant mobility limitations or unmanaged knee or ankle problems, but the route and pace can be adjusted to match the group.
The radar is a planning aid derived from the route information already published on this page; it is not a medical or technical grading.

About the Region
Imlil is a small village at roughly 1,740 meters in the Imlil Valley, the main gateway to the Toubkal massif in the central High Atlas, about 60 kilometers south of Marrakech. The valley is green and terraced, with walnut, cherry, and apple orchards, irrigation channels, and stone-built Amazigh villages clinging to the slopes above. Surrounding peaks rise to over 3,500 meters, and the landscape shifts from cultivated valley floor to pine and juniper scrub and then bare rock with altitude. Snow caps the higher summits from late autumn through spring, while the valley itself is walkable for most of the year. The local economy is built around trekking tourism, guiding, and muleteering.
